Story Ideas
Here are a few story ideas for class. Halloween is right around the corner. So what do students do on mischief night? Are there any traditions or so forth Wittenberg follows? aside from the party life, what to students do? On another topic, I'd like to talk about the cost of living at an apartment around campus. A friend of mine recently got a large electricity bill for leaving on just one light. It might make for an interesting story. My last idea for a story has to do with music. What does the average student listen to? either that, or what live bands can students see? maybe just interview a few students or bands to see what kind of music is played around Wittenberg.

Good story ideas. The cost of living at apts story would have to be focused tightly; you don't want just a bunch of students complaining. Look for a particular issue that many of those students have in common (electricity bills, bad landlords, how to deal with the coming cold weather, etc.).
ReplyDeleteI like the music survey stories, but again you want more than just a list. The local bands story would be easiest, because there aren't that many options; it might in fact turn to a story about lack of music (or places to find that music). If you want to do a "what's on their ipods?" story, you'd have to talk to a LOT of students, or find some way to winnow it down. Maybe campus leaders -- here's what the student body officers are listening to, here's what the greek house presidents listen to, quarterback of football team, etc.
